About Richard E. Kraus

Richard Edward Kraus (November 24, 1925 – October 3, 1944) was a United States Marine who was killed in action in World War II during the Battle of Peleliu on October 3, 1944. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor, the highest military honor awarded by the United States. He selflessly threw himself on a Japanese grenade to save his fellow comrades.
